DANCE WITH YOUR BABY
EXPERIENCE JOY, CREATE BONDS, SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT, HAVE FUN!
In the womb, mother and baby move to the same heartbeat. Dancing with your baby is a natural extension of this vital rhythmic synchronization. Benefits: bonding more deeply with your baby, improving baby's sensory-motor development, getting a low-impact aerobic workout, and gaining confidence as a new parent!
As your baby grows and develops, so does social, language and motor skills. You can help facilitate this, as well as the proper development of your baby's spine and hips through baby-wearing dance. Dancing with baby has important benefits such as improved muscle tone, increased bone density, enhanced spatial awareness and needed discharge of excess energy that cannot release through movement until crawling begins. Listening to the cadence of rhythmic music helps baby start to make sounds and learn to vocalize.
After the first year, your child has enough head and neck control, that you can be more exuberant while baby-wearing during dance. Once baby is walking, we find that a combination of baby-wearing and toddler free-movement works best. This allows your baby to interact and socialize with others, in addition to learning spontaneous vocalization and movement to the music. Your child will start to naturally learn dance and song in a similar manner as other cultures, creating socialization and community. And most importantly, have FUN!
